pisgah_growlerSounds great. Here’s the press release. Not sure exactly where 660 Merrimon Avenue is. Asheville Growler owner Sean McNeal also owns The Bar of Soap laundromat and book stoer at 333 Merrimon Avenue:

Beginning Monday, July 22nd, Asheville Growler will fill growlers for retail sale from 20 hand-picked craft beers! Using a counter pressure filling system, customers will be able to have their growlers filled with the same technology used by their favorite breweries, keeping their beer fresh for up to 3 weeks from original fill date! Don’t own a growler? No problem! Asheville Growler will sell many different types of growlers that will suit your needs. “Growlers are a fantastic way for craft beer lovers to take home hard-to-find beers in a convenient package” says Sean McNeal, owner of Asheville Growler. “And with advances in growler and growler filling technology, it just might be the best way to purchase beer.”

With the signing of House Bill 829 by Governor McCrory on the 12th of June, 2013, North Carolinians may now enjoy the craft beer conveniences long enjoyed by other states. Fresh craft beer is by far the BEST craft beer, and now it’s easily available from your local retailer. Located at 660 Merrimon Avenue, Asheville Growler is convenient to all of greater Asheville and provides easy access and plenty of parking.

I saw one of these in Atlanta, but it was only open during the times when most people worked. I guess they didn’t need the money. I hope this one in Asheville is open after 6pm weekdays and Saturday and Sunday otherwise I don’t see them surviving.

      Hey FDR, we here ya.

Our hours of operation will be Noon – 8pm, seven days a week. We’ll have 20 rotating local, regional, and national beers that aren’t available in packaging (bottles & cans) locally. And by using a counter pressure filling system and offering various size growlers you’ll be able to stock up on good craft beer and not worry about having to drink it within a couple of days.

Jennifer & Jason, we will indeed be in the old Iris Photo space. Unfortunately I’m not sure what befell them.

      Thanks & Cheers!

Looks like it’s the former Iris Photographics, which according to Twitter, has now closed.
