From the Asheville Citizen-Times’ Carol Motsinger:

ASHEVILLE — Asheville Ale House will close its doors on Sunday.

The sports bar, at 114 Biltmore Ave., will host a closing party that evening starting at 10 p.m.

“It’s just going to be a big dance party,” owner Wayne Glass said, “we are going to be moving the tables out and have karaoke and music. We just wanted to end by saying a big thanks to people.”

Glass said the bar is closing partly because of landlord disputes.

I never checked out the Asheville Ale House, so I’m not sure exactly what the issue/issues were with the joint. Guess we’ll wait and see what’s next for the location.

    What studs! What manly men!

Doesn’t that idiot meat-head who ran that place know he’s almost surely to be sued for damages? A really smart way to begin the next phase of your life – knee deep in property damages litigation!

From the report last night on WLOS, the finale party turned destructive – the place was trashed.

I went to Ale House a couple times and it really struck me as just overflow for Wild Wing. Had much more of a Hendersonville vibe to it than an Asheville one, and I’d venture to say that’s why it didn’t last.

Way to be positive Smoker. I had no idea, and now I know about what sounds like a fun night. Maybe you should start a Asheville news website that reports news in a much more timely fashion instead of being a loser behind a keyboard.

WLOS had a story about this last night. Seems the owners had eviction papers against the tenant, and the tenant wrecked the place Sunday before he moved out.

Memo to tenant….you do tend to have "landlord disputes’ when you don’t pay the rent.

J, on WLOS last night they had a story about how the place was trashed by the folks at that "party" … apparently they tore the place apart.

Apparently Smoker is not following closely enough as this post about the Asheville Ale House has nothing to do with Bruce’s Pipe Shop taking over the old Hop location. Please follow along closely. It can get pretty fast paced around here.

Apparently, Mr. Glass and his pals destroyed the owner’s property after his closing party. What a class act. If his actions here are any indicator of how he conducts business, it’s no wonder he’s going belly up. Good riddance.

I heard it here first…so it’s not stale to me. I liked the place. Seems a shame.

Good riddance, that place was terrible. Worst service, couldn’t even honor their advertised specials.

Having worked at the old Dripolater Coffeeshop when it was in that location I can tell you the landlord of this property has had disputes with nearly every tenant in the past several years. He even once had the closing barista’s car towed because it was past our closing time and he was still inside cleaning. Seems like dead real estate anyway…

Your news is way more than stale. The deal for that space fell through 2 months ago when it was clear that parking would be spotty. Bruce’s is in the process of expanding and renovating their current space further down Merrimon.
