Another bank hit in Asheville; fourth robbery since February

Asheville police on Tuesday afternoon were investigating a bank robbery at gun point. It was the fourth bank robbery since Feb. 9, when the Wells Fargo Bank on Smoky Park Highway was hit.

Here’s the press release regarding Tuesday’s bank robbery:

ASHEVILLE – On Tuesday, 03-20-12, at approx. 2:13 pm, the Asheville Police Department responded to the First Citizens Bank located at 1375 Patton Ave., in West Asheville; in reference to a report of an Armed Robbery.
Upon arrival, officers met with Bank personnel who advised that a white male subject approx. 6 ft. tall, and medium build, with sandy blonde hair, wearing a dark Harley Davidson hat w/ flames, purple bandana over his face, blue oxford polo shirt with a white t-shirt underneath, and jeans with white tennis shoes, had just robbed the bank. They advised that the suspect came into the bank brandishing a dark colored semi-automatic handgun and demanded money.

After robbing the bank of an indeterminate amount of money, the suspect ran from the bank and was last seen running towards the area of Lucerne Ave.. He may possibly have gotten into a smaller white vehicle with unknown Florida tags.
Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to call crimestoppers at 255-5050 or text APDTIP and your information to 274637 (CRIMES).
