Kimberly_King_2013Kimberly King is also joining the WLOS-TV 13 news staff, along with newbies Evan Donovan and Mike Mason. More on Kimberly:

Kim is an award-winning Investigative and General Assignment Reporter for Fox59 (in south Florida). She’s covered stories from the ousting of legendary IU Men’s Basketball Coach Bobby Knight to the hunt for high flying Indiana money manager Marcus Schrenker who crashed his plane and faked his death near Florida to avoid financial fraud charges.

After six years of dogged investigation, Kim was honored with one of journalism’s most prestigious awards, an Edward R. Murrow for her Continuous Coverage into the murder of Indiana University sophomore Jill Behrman. Her knowledge of the long unsolved case led to a hour-long special on FOX News Channel hosted by Greta Van Susteren. In it, Kim reported new information on the murder and botched investigation police had pressured her not to report for years. This pressure included threats to arrest her and shutting out the station from information on any other police case. Kim’s reporting forced investigators to act, and make an arrest just weeks before the cable news special aired. In retaliation, prosecutors placed Kim on their witness lists to keep her from covering the trial. Following the verdict, Kim’s reporting continued to reveal inconsistencies with evidence, witness testimony, and juror misbehavior throughout the case.

Kim is an Emmy award-winning reporter. She’s been honored numerous times by the Associated Press and Society of Professional Journalists for her consumer, hard news, spot news, and social justice investigations. From an Associated Press award winning piece on secret Ku Klux Klan membership cards, to her investigation into the unsolved hate crime murder of Encyclopedia saleswoman Carol Jenkins in Martinsville in 1968, her stories have revealed new information on sensitive subject matter involving Indiana’s racist past.

FOX 59 is Indianapolis, not South Florida. However you are on the right track, Tribune owns FOX 59 as well as a station in south florida (WSFL).
